14th Adam Dealey Golf Day 2009

Image - Header Line

To be held at Verulam Golf Club, St. Albans, Hertfordshire
Friday 2nd October 2009

Hi Everyone!

Now that I have again just about recovered from last year’s event am just starting getting around to organising this year’s.

The golf this year will take place on Friday 2nd October and the Royal Parks Half Marathon is taking place in London on Sunday 11th October.

I am pleased to say that I have managed to keep costs as they were last year £100 for the Golf and Gala Dinner / Dance and £45 for the Gala Dinner/Dance only Sopwell House have reduced the overnight stay price to £125 per room including breakfast.

Once again despite hard times I have already had a lot of interest and should be pleased if you would please let me know ASAP if you already not have done so that you will be entering a team - as always first come first served but hopefully will be able to accommodate everyone.

Again I have had interest in the Royal Parks run and I will pay the entrance fee in return for sponsorship of £300 - this is now a big event and places are limited.

Attached are the forms for the golf and Royal Parks run and should be pleased if you would get them back to me ASAP.

Finally as I have indicated sponsorship and prizes for the Golf are getting harded to come by so if you can help in this area please get in touch Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you on the day

The Annual Golf Day

Friday the 2nd kicks off with The Adam Dealey Annual Golf Day and Gala Dinner which will again be held at the Verulam Golf Club followed by the Dinner which takes place at Sopwell House Hotel - both venues are in St. Albans, Hertfordshire and you can check them out on the following links: The golf is teams of 4 and the cost per head will includes bacon rolls and coffee on arrival followed by a round of golf and then the gala dinner/disco in the evening.

If you wish to come along for the evening three course meal /disco only then that’s fine as with any additional guests you wish to bring if playing in the golf.

For those of you that want to stay over and chill on the Saturday the hotel are to offer a special rate which will be confirmed in due course.

I have over the past few weeks received many e mails and phone calls wanting to know dates etc and it is almost certain that the golf will be oversubscribed and the fairest way once the invitations go out is to allocate places on a first come first served basis with returned paid entry forms. Wherever possible I will try to accommodate everyone that wants to play.

Now here’s where you can also help ,the success of the event each year relies heavily on sponsorship and people coming forward with prizes for the raffle / auction and this year with the recession biting in it is going to be very difficult so I should be delighted to hear from anyone who can help in these areas.

We had over 200 people attending the evening last year and hopefully will reach the same figure this year.

Royal Parks Half Marathon - Sunday 11th October 2009

As last year there will be some people running from Virgin and am looking for some more people to run for Adam on behalf of BCRT and have spaces if you or any of your team / guests wish to take this leisurely stroll through the parks.

I will be there and am delighted that the The Bone Cancer Research Trust are one of the selected charities to be invited to have a stand at this event - to enter if you would like to have a go just complete the attached form and get it back to me as soon as possible - I will pay the entry in return for the commitment to raise £300.

You will also get a nice Adam Dealey/BCRT Tee shirt as well as enjoying what promises to be a real fun day.

Again if you are not running you will be more than welcome to come along and cheer members of the team on or pop in on the BCRT stand.

Fundraising Update

As you are aware all monies raised in memory of Adam now go to The Bone Cancer Research Trust of which I am deputy chair and during the past few months the monies raised topped the £1 million mark – not bad for a charity only going for 3 years./p>

We will be holding our annual conference at Sopwell House on the 27th June and at the same time launching Bone Cancer Awareness week - this was the subject of an early day motion in 'The House' last year and received support from MP’s of all parties - in addition the campaign was featured on national radio and television as well as local radio and press throughout the country.

Also attached is the latest BCRT magazine and as you will see this year is based around Bake A Cake which is headed up by James Corden - you will also see some of the work that has been done with the monies raised.

Finally as I have said the official invites will go before the end of the month and look forward to seeing you on the day or in the evening but if in the meantime you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you again for your support as always it is greatly appreciated.  If you wish to come to this event please complete the golf form or contact me directly.

Kind Regards
